Telephone Befriending Service

How it started...

2020 was a year when COVID-19 was introduced to us and it forced us to adapt in ways we could not have imagined.  We changed the way we lived - we stayed home, we isolated and we shielded, but this took its toll on many people.

As a youth mentoring organisation, we reviewed our service provision and realised we could help meet a specific need by delivering a telephone befriending service.  We initially teamed up with members of the Lewisham BME Network to form Familia and deliver a food delivery, wellbeing and telephone befriending service.

Since the, we have gained funding from The National Lottery, Tesco Bags for Help and Lewisham, to continue to provide a telephone service to vulnerable people at Lewisham.
