Telephone Befriending Service
How it started...
2020 was a year when COVID-19 was introduced to us and it forced us to adapt in ways we could not have imagined. We changed the way we lived - we stayed home, we isolated and we shielded, but this took its toll on many people.
As a youth mentoring organisation, we reviewed our service provision and realised we could help meet a specific need by delivering a telephone befriending service. We initially teamed up with members of the Lewisham BME Network to form Familia and deliver a food delivery, wellbeing and telephone befriending service.
Since the, we have gained funding from The National Lottery, Tesco Bags for Help and Lewisham, to continue to provide a telephone service to vulnerable people at Lewisham.

We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated to receive the Lewisham Mayor's Award in 2020, for our contribution and role we continue to play in the borough's response to COVID-19.
This award is for our volunteers.
THANK YOU to all our volunteers.
You are all amazing and we appreciate you.
We could not do this work without you.
